Ben Tre

Ben Tre province (a delta province) is located at the end of the Cuu Long River Delta. It has borders with the East Sea to the east, with 60 kilometer-long coastline. The province is 2,322 sq. km2, around 85 kilometers far from Hochiminh City.
Ben Tre is featured with a plain geography, which is scattered around by sand dunes and adorned by rice fields, fruit plant gardens, and numerous rivers and streams, canals and arroyos. The four Tien Giang river branches, including My Tho, Ba Lai, Ham Luong and Co Chieu rivers, split Ben Tre into 3 islands of Minh, Bao, and An Hoa. All contribute to an ecological system of rivers, canals, arroyos and green trees, facilitating transportation, hydro-electricity, and more importantly, ecological tourism potential.

President Ho Chi Minh’s Biography (1890-1969)
His father was a patriotic scholar, his mother was a farmer. His older sister and brother both took part in the anti-French movements and were imprisoned by the colonial administration.
On 3 June 1911, Ho Chi Minh left the country. He lived on doing different jobs. He also participated in the revolutionary movements of many peoples while making great efforts to struggle for his nation’s independence and freedom. Ho Chi Minh was the first Vietnamese supporter to the Russian October Revolution and found the Marxism-Leninism the way to liberate the working class and peoples in colonial countries. In 1920, he took part in establishing the French Communist Party in the Tour Congress. In 1921, he founded the Union of French Colonial Nations; published the newspaper Le Paria in France (1922). In 1923, he became a member of the International Peasantry Committee. In 1924, he attended the Fifth Congress of Communist International and was appointed a standing member of the Oriental Department. In 1925, he participated in establishing the Union of Asian Oppressed Nations, and published the two famous books, The Indictment of French Colonialism (1925) and The Revolutionary Path (1927).

“Banh phu the” – symbol of loyalty between husband and wife
Vietnam Information - “Banh phu the” or the conjugal cake is one of the favorite traditional cakes in Vietnam, but it embodies the philosophy of yin and yang in the nation.
A specialty of Dinh Bang district, Bac Ninh province, the conjugal cake is known everywhere and has become a favorite choice for weddings and other celebrations.
In the past, only royal families and dignitaries could afford to buy this kind of cake as conjugal cakes were only on sale at some important events. Nowadays, thanks to their improved living standards, almost every family can go for such pairs of delicious and beautiful cakes.
